I can enjoy without agreeing with everything!
Neil Channing@SenseiChanning

@parispiked Any other party leader would be very welcome and we'll treat them all the same. Happy to accept that people don't always have to agree on everything. Hope you had a good listen though, we thought we did a good episode.

We will agreeably disagree then! My view is that once you interview a political figure it's essential to be prepared to challenge them. Otherwise whatever YOUR motives (which I understand) they have free rein...
Neil Channing@SenseiChanning

@parispiked If we were simply a political podcast and not a political betting podcast I would agree. He said maybe 30 to 50 things that I personally would disagree with and that I would challenge him on if I was debating him. @nickluck was definitely not planning to debate him.

My position would be that once he started talking about his views/policies etc it's incumbent upon the presenter to challenge/interrogate/explore those. That's my "complaint".
Neil Channing@SenseiChanning

@parispiked I think it's the longest interview he's ever done. Occasionally he started to talk about policies and you're correct @nickluck did not challenge him on those, that was totally deliberate. We didn't have an hour for the episode and we had questions we wanted the answers to.

I'd not quibble that no questions about policy were asked but the platform provided allowed him to promulgate them asked or not! Do enjoy the podcast generally.
Neil Channing@SenseiChanning

@parispiked We definitely don't promise to be the podcast it sounds like you want. We want to talk to people about betting on politics, election strategy and where they see politics going. We certainly didn't ask him any questions on policy and we haven't done that with any of our guests.

Problem Neil is that the interview allowed Lowe to promote his political agenda/views without proper scrutiny. Lowe made several assertions, unchallenged, including the astonishing claim that his party is not right wing! I can see why Lowe took the opportunity but not why allowed
Neil Channing@SenseiChanning

Getting a bit of stick over the guest in our latest episode @OborneTweets and I wondered if you think we did a bad thing. We felt like it's a podcast about political betting and the chance to get a man who is 20/1 to be next PM on was something we couldn't refuse...

The first obligation has been undertaken pretty shabbily too!
Vaughan Lewis@VaughanLewis1

@NevinTruesdale @GamRegGB Thank you Nevin. That last line captures it perfectly; the Gambling Act 2005 gave the Commission a dual mandate: protect consumers AND permit gambling. Somewhere along the way the second obligation was forgotten

Can any of the 4 of you provide an argument to convince me to support the "Save our Bets" campaign when, if successful. I still won't be able to place an online bet with all but one of the online UK based b/makers (as a modest taking punter)?
Tony Calvin@tony_calvin

THERE was nothing about Lord Byron in the Aintree stewards report today. I will outline why there certainly should have been in Monday's @AKBets podcast and why the @BHAStewards are failing punters on a daily basis. Questions on here for the show please. Thank you.

Quite. Someone explain why I should support a "Save our Bets" campaign to then be prevented from having a (modest - I'm a recreational punter) bet with bookmakers. Please.

@SenseiChanning @Desert_Pilot @RacingTV @DCsportsvalue @WorldPool But closing and restricting accounts is still very much their thing is it not? By the way, I know at least ten people in my friend group who gamble. Not a single one uses the black market.

I'm neither castigating nor defending him merely observing it's incorrect to assert professional gamblers do not "pay tax".
goodeliberal2016@goodeliberal31

@parispiked Doesn’t everyone else pay ‘other ones’ and income tax?

He *may** not pay income tax but he sure pays other ones!

@tony_calvin @AKBets Neil Channing is always good value and insightful.Yesterday on Nick Luck’s TV show he was wearing a ‘socialist’ tee shirt. Isn’t that virtue signalling coming from a professional gambler, who doesn’t work and pay taxes? Do people like this try to throw HMRC off their tax affairs?
