@ehkopin @stephestellar I just finished Nothing to See Here over the course of a few days -- it's not very long + I really couldn't put it down. Agree it would be great.

@clancynewyork @sophiasgaler @lmacthompson1 @nursingclio Without looking at this carefully, wondering what it looks like compared to dates of books in the corpus? It may have to do w copyright impacting what got scanned from print holdings in libraries and not be about the terms but just a drop off of works not in the public domain
English

Wondering if anyone has insights into this question for @sophiasgaler cc: @lmacthompson1 @nursingclio
English

Great question. A factor to consider: Google Books trends can be misleading, depending on the corpus searched and data for that period, and may not reflect the true frequency with which terms appear in print. Can any historians shed light on what might be happening here?
Sophia Smith Galer@sophiasgaler
can any historian explain what happened exactly to so dramatically curb the printed ‘vagina’ in books at the end of the 1800s?

@catladylib This has been a big topic of conversation in our household. I just hollered to @anarchivist in the other room “there is fanny pack discourse on library Twitter!”

@meau_takes Big cities don’t work without commonly understood norms and public shaming to teach and enforce them.

@meau_takes @anarchivist @steganogram long shots/more work: ask Bunde if there is anything in the NYU Archives, see if there is anything in the grant reporting but I think it was all Mellon funded so maybe not.
English

@meau_takes @anarchivist I don't think Sibyl is on here anymore, but it would be worth asking her. Also maybe talking with @steganogram as he might have some insight into this from working on the survey module

@adorkablekati @feministlib I’m so very sorry to hear this news. I did not know Anna well but learned from and admired her. Her brilliance, generosity, and passion always were clear. My deepest condolences to you and @CrowGirl42 and everyone who loved her.
