NEW: Parents outraged after their mentally ill son was euthanized thanks to Canada's MAID program, says he was coached by doctor on how to get approved. Kiano Vafaeian, 26, was euthanized with a lethal drug through Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying program. Vafaeian suffered from blindness in one eye, diabetes, seasonal depression, and mental health issues stemming from a previous car crash. His mother, Margaret Marsilla, who previously prevented her son from using the program, is now accusing MAID provider Dr. Ellen Wiebe of "coaching" him on how to qualify for the program. "We believe that she was coaching him... on how to deteriorate his body and what she can possibly approve him for and what she can get away with approving him for," his mother, Margaret Marsilla, said. "Because if he had spoken back in 2024, and he was a good candidate for approving MAID, she would have done it right away, but she didn't." Vafaeian’s parents say they were not notified of their son's approval to be euthanized, and found out he passed a day after it occurred. Insane levels of evil. This doctor should be thrown in prison.

To be clear if your first thought about the Tumbler Ridge tragic shooting is that the most relevant thing is the shooter’s gender identity you can block me. This horrific tragedy should NOT be politicized - certainly not by elected officials. Do better.

@chrisgailus Terrible tragedy. We need to speak about the mental instability of many of these kids that are being pumped various hormones. The trans community should speak up too and not just in defence but recognize the mental health issues in their community.

Yesterday, I grabbed lunch with a friend who relies on AISH benefits, and our chat left me wondering how can the UCP justify slashing $200 a month from the pockets of our most vulnerable? She also shared that the earnings exemption for individuals on AISH, which was previously up to $1,000 extra per month without penalty, has now been reduced to just $300. Does anyone have the Coles notes on what is happening here? Is this permanent or temporary? And is there a new support program rolling out to backfill these cuts? She is currently on month 3 of reductions. P.S. She asked me to take her to the grocery store after lunch and she walked out with a full bag of groceries for just $14! It was impressive to witness just how resourceful she is.
