This, in my experience growing up was what I knew and saw a gay person as. This was my point of reference. This was what I was exposed to. And like the question said "as a concept". She was a character on tv afterall.

@dunebuggy53 I just remember feeling and thinking it's so unsafe to be openly gay except in crossdressing that to protect yourself, you'd have to settle for heterosexuality. I was young and had my own fears obviously but damn they also put her through a lot
