Look at the pathetic crowd size that @JDVance got at the @TPUSA event. MAGA is dead. This is just laughable. There are more people at the drag queen bingo nights in rural far-right Florida towns.

This started with the Haitian Revolution itself when Haiti managed to defeat three of the colonial powers of Europe (Spain, Britain, and France). This was a huge source of concern for slave owners throughout the Americas who were concerned that a similar uprising could happen elsewhere. What made Haiti a threat wasn’t simply that the Africans there lead a successful uprising which set an example for others. It was also the fact that Haitians actively supported liberation struggles throughout the Diaspora. Haiti aided Simón Bolívar’s revolutionary struggle. Haiti also opened itself as a place of refuge for Africans in the US. James Theodore Holly famously relocated to Haiti and part of Denmark Vesey’s plan was to sail to Haiti after executing a slave rebellion because he knew he would be safe there. In the early part of the 1900s, Haitians such as Benito Sylvain and Anténor Firmin were leading advocates of Pan-Africanism. Sylvain represented Menelik II at the first Pan-African Conference in 1900. Firmin, who also attended the conference, declared that Haiti should work to rehabilitate Africa and he called for a Caribbean federation. Firmin also challenged American imperialism in Haiti, which is why the US government would later oppose his attempts to become president of Haiti. The US invaded and occupied Haiti in 1915. Since then, Haiti has never truly been able to free itself from the US influence on its politics.

NEWS: Huge first win for Mayor Mamdani’s tax-the-rich plans in NYC. Mamdani just secured a deal with Gov. Hochul to create the state’s first-ever tax on $5 million+ second homes owned by ultrawealthy out-of-state residents. Hochul hopes to raise $500 million annually that would be used to address the city’s deficit.

This👇is quite extraordinary, showing how much Trump is uniting Europeans on all sides 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 him Elly Schlein, Leader of Italy's largest opposition party, (herself 50/50🇮🇹🇺🇸) furiously condemns Trump's attacks on her opponent Meloni. The whole Chamber stands up to applaud the whole time. My English s/t👇 "Italy is a free and sovereign country. Our Constitution is clear - Italy repudiates war. No foreign Head of State has the right to attack, threaten or disrespect our country or government. We are opponents in this Chamber, but we are all Italian citizens and Italian MPs. Adolf Hitler killed 2 million white people and is considered the most evil man to ever live. King Leopold II of Belgium killed over 10 million Africans and still doesn’t appear on the list of the most wicked people to ever live.

On 6 August 1945, a 29-year-old ship engineer was walking to work in Hiroshima, Japan when he saw a plane drop something attached to two parachutes. Then the sky turned white. Tsutomu Yamaguchi was just 3 km from the centre of the first atomic bomb ever used in war. The blast ruptured his eardrums, temporarily blinded him, and burned the entire left side of his upper body. He crawled to a shelter and found his two colleagues alive. They spent the night in an air-raid shelter. The next day, still badly burned, he boarded a train home. To cross a destroyed river with no bridge, he had to swim through floating bodies. He arrived in Nagasaki on 8 August and went straight to the hospital. The doctor who treated him was a former school classmate. The burns on Yamaguchi’s face were so severe the man didn’t even recognise him. On 9 August, still wrapped in bandages, Yamaguchi went to work at the Mitsubishi shipyard. His supervisor asked him to describe what had happened in Hiroshima. As he was speaking, the room filled with white light again. The second atomic bomb had just been dropped on his own city. He was 3 km from the centre of that one too. His wife and infant son survived. He lost hearing in his left ear permanently. His wife later developed radiation-related cancer, and his son suffered health problems throughout his life before passing away in 2005. Yamaguchi said nothing publicly for decades. Then in his eighties he wrote a memoir and a book of poetry. At 90 he travelled to New York and addressed the United Nations, calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons. The Japanese government didn’t officially recognise him as a survivor of both bombings until 2009. He passed away in January 2010, aged 93. He is the only person in history officially recognised as having survived both atomic bombs.

A police officer in Colorado was sentenced to 17 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl while he was on duty. Dylan Miller, 30, approached 2 girls at a park in Loveland, CO, and then he sent 1 of the girls away and guided his victim to a secluded area, where he took his body cam off and assaulted her. May his victim find peace one day. And may this repulsive ogre suffer every day for what he did to her.

A throwback from January 15, 1982 - Walking out of the White House with James Brown, the Godfather of Soul and a mentor and father figure, after meeting with U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George H. W. Bush to advocate for a federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This was part of a broader push led by Mrs. King, Stevie Wonder, and many others who worked tirelessly to see Dr. King’s birthday recognized nationwide. The government hid every piece of evidence from the killing of Renee Good. A federal judge just said hand it over. Renee Good was shot and killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross on January 7 in Minneapolis. She was sitting in her car. She was an American citizen. A poet. A mother. She committed no crime. And for three months, the federal government has refused to release a single piece of evidence about how she died. They removed Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension from the investigation. They blocked state investigators from accessing any materials. They refused to identify Ross publicly until news outlets did their own investigations. A high-ranking White House official personally overruled ICE's own initial agreement to cooperate with a use-of-force investigation. They didn't just cover it up. They built a wall around the cover-up. On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Bryan tore a hole in that wall. He ordered federal prosecutors to turn over Ross's complete personnel and training files, all statements Ross made in the 60 minutes before and during the shooting, witness statements, body-worn camera footage, cell phone data, medical records related to Ross's fitness for duty, and DHS and ICE use-of-force policies. They have three weeks. "This judge is effectively doing the investigation that the United States has turned its back on," said Shauna Kieffer, a defense attorney in Minneapolis. The order came through a side door. Ross was involved in a separate violent incident last June where he attempted to arrest a man during a traffic stop and was dragged by the car. That man was convicted of assault. His defense attorney argued that evidence from the Good killing could reveal a pattern of reckless behavior by Ross that's relevant to sentencing. The judge agreed. If Ross's conduct is found to have contributed to the earlier incident, the court could reduce the convicted man's sentence below the guideline range. Meaning the evidence about how Ross killed Renee Good could prove that Ross himself was the problem all along. The state of Minnesota, led by Attorney General Keith Ellison, is also suing the Trump administration for blocking the state's own investigation into the shooting. The federal government fought every attempt to get this evidence into the open. A judge just overruled them. The body camera footage exists. The witness statements exist. The truth about what happened to Renee Good exists. And it's coming out.

Very, very sad to report that Hayam El Gamal, mother of 5 kids detained at Dilley for 10+ months, has suffered a serious medical emergency due to systematic denial of medical attention by ICE. We can now share the following: For many weeks Ms. El Gamal has been concerned about a growth on her chest that has caused pain for many weeks. She has made complaints to Dilley staff and ICE repeatedly but has been denied a visit to an outside doctor. She had specifically made requests for a CT scan to identify the lump and the source of her pain. On Thursday April 8, a doctor at Dilley told her that he had put in a request for a CT scan but "higher ups" in either ICE or CoreCivic overrode his request, and so no scan was conducted. Medical records show she had been demanding help since February, at which time she said her pain had been already worsening for 8 weeks. A doctor at Dilley said the lump in her chest was merely a bone. Mid-morning on Friday April 9, Ms. El Gamal began experiencing excruciating pain which she rated an 11 out of 10. She described the pain as being stabbed through the back to the stomach. At about 11 AM central time she began pleading with officials for painkillers and medical attention. After two hours of asking for help (at around 1 PM central time) she was taken to an off-site emergency room. While there she received lab work and, finally, a CT scan. The CT scan confirmed that the lump was not a bone, but it did not reveal what the lump was. The scan also showed she has "fluid around the heart." The ER doctor recommended an ultrasound to determine what was causing the pain, but this was denied. Ms. El Gamal was told she had to go back to Dilley and was not given the ultrasound. We do not know if the lump is cancerous, all we know is that the pain is increasing, the incidents are becoming worse and worse, and she is not receiving proper diagnosis that could lead to proper treatment. After 10 months in detention, Ms. El Gamal remains in pain. We are concerned that the systematic denial of medical attention may result in her death. Her children are extremely worried about their mother, who is now their only guardian. Her five year old child has been denied the right to go to a dentist for 13 cavities. Her 16 year old son was told to take tylenol when he suffered from acute appendicitis. All of the children are suffering from depression. Please join us in demanding the El Gamal's immediate release so that she can acquire the urgent medical attention she desperately needs. This family has suffered enough.
