BREAKING: This morning, Kaware village in Shanga LGA, Kebbi State, was attacked by terrorists known locally as Lakurawa. They reportedly set homes on fire and opened fire on residents trying to escape. Eyewitnesses say exit routes were blocked, leaving civilians trapped as the village burned. UPDATE: Yesterday afternoon, residents of Sukuntuni and surrounding communities in Kankia LGA of Katsina State, start fleeing their homes after bandits issued a letter in English demanding 700 cattle & 1,000 sheep within days, threatening violence and ending peace deal (that never materialised). Fear is spreading across Sukuntuni and nearby communities. How long can civilians remain unprotected in Nigeria’s rural areas? NB: Below is a video of residents fleeing their homes

BREAKING: Saturday afternoon, residents of Sukuntuni town in Kankia LGA, Katsina State, received a written threat (in English). Recently, reports indicate rising bandits activity across Matazu, Kankia, Musawa and Charanci LGAs in Katsina State. Sunday early hours, bandits entered Tudun Wulli community in Sukuntuni district, conducting house-to-house searches. No kidnappings or killings, but significant looting reported. Witness accounts also link the development to a Thursday night raid in Sukuntuni, where attackers carried out a similar operation, injuring several civilians. Locals attribute the surge in attacks to recent peace arrangements, which they say have enabled bandits to operate with little restraint. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement as of today morning.

Developed countries don’t clog highways with endless police roadblocks and stop-and-search. These checkpoints achieve zero against insecurity in Nigeria. They’ve simply become avenues for officers to harass and extort citizens daily.
