Yesterday we implemented a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) impacting about 15,000 Texas Panhandle customers. High winds with gusts up to 70 mph led to additional power outages. Since yesterday evening, more than 400 crew members and contractors have been working to inspect lines, making repairs and restoring power as it becomes safe to do so. Helicopters are supporting rapid aerial inspections of power lines, and drones will be deployed if windspeeds allow. Power has been restored to 97% of customers affected by Tuesday’s Public Safety Power Shutoff and weather-related outages. As of 3:45 p.m. CT on Wednesday, 526 customers were still affected by outages amid ongoing restoration efforts. High winds that may create wildfire risk and cause outages are expected to continue through Friday. Customers should be prepared for weather-related outages in the coming days. Hundreds of our team members are out inspecting power lines and poles and making repairs to restore power to more than 80,000 customers impacted by the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and the damaging winds that moved through Colorado yesterday. Power has been restored to some customers, and we expect most customers to see their power return by 10 p.m. tonight. Restoration for some customers may extend into Sunday due to severe damage and the location of the damage. Crews must visually inspect the lines for damage before repairs can be made and power restored. If your power is out, an estimated restoration time for your address should be reflected in the outage map at co.my.xcelenergy.com/s/outage-safet… If you are experiencing an outage that is not reflected in the outage map or in My Account, please report your outage.

We understand how frustrating it is to experience extended outages and that people have questions about Public Safety Power Shutoffs, so we asked our Operations and Wildfire Risk Management experts for answers.

Wind gusts reached 90-100 mph in some areas of the Front Range yesterday evening, and as soon as it was safe, crews mobilized to assess damage, patrol lines, and inspect equipment. Restoration work has started and will be ongoing for several days as our teams battle with an additional round of severe wind tomorrow morning. We appreciate your patience and kindness to our crews as they navigate difficult conditions.
