A mega CMO of a tech company came to me during the pandemic. Wanted to have a chat about the industry. I accepted. Big name. Then he changed company, asked me for a call to introduce them to some clients. Accepted. Then he reached out to have a chat about his new gig. Never responded. Learned my lesson. Pick your brain, get a coffee, share ideas. Ciao ciao

@tojulius I am sorry to hear this Julius. Really sorry. I have been there and it sucks. I hope you find an even better client to replace them.

A few months ago, a major event tech company got in touch and committed to a large budget for a project together. I blocked the slots for them and provided creative briefs. I also paid for the resources needed to produce what they asked. They canceled everything. I lost money, but did not say anything. These things happen, and relationships matter. Today I see the idea I gave them used with another media. Great learning for me, never deal with these people. Ever again.

I am starting to think that content-driven events should be treated like IRL podcasts. What @jasonlk usually does at Saastr but not limited to main sessions. Main stage should look like: Constant interview or discussion style. Proper interviewer. Better if actual podcast host. Informal setup. Recorded for online. This format combined with: Workshops Intimate networking Braindates Demos Is unstoppable. The peak of what attendees want.
