I used to also fall into the joke about “my therapist told me I need to set boundaries doesn’t she know I’m ethnic !” And like yeah it’s always better to be able to feel understood and acknowledge the cultural barriers, but like the work is still having to set boundaries …

The way it’s night and day for me with starting therapy. And I have talked to people about their experiences, and while I recognize finding a good fit is important, I think many are either not fully honest with them or literally just don’t do the “work”
