$ASTS 🤝🏻 $AMZN YOU ARE DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY. THE LIKELY SOLUTION IS DIFFERENT. This is a strong technical read, and I agree with most of it. If Amazon wants true broadband direct-to-device, then yes: - large aperture antennas are required - high power and thermal constraints become first-order - beamforming complexity explodes - Doppler compensation and timing become non-trivial - and, most importantly, integration into standardized 4G and 5G core networks is the hard part, not just the RF link That is exactly the stack that separates narrowband MSS from carrier-grade broadband. Where I diverge is the conclusion. If you accept all of the above, then building this “from scratch” is not just hard. It is a multi-year, high-risk execution path with uncertain outcomes, especially when the target is direct interoperability with terrestrial cellular standards at scale. So the real question becomes economic and strategic, not just technical: Why would Amazon choose to build that entire stack independently if a credible path already exists? This is where the landscape simplifies. - AST SpaceMobile has already spent years solving exactly the problems you outlined - They are explicitly aligned with MNO architectures and standards-based integration - Their system is designed around ground-based processing, which keeps the upgrade cycle aligned with terrestrial networks At the same time: - Amazon now controls spectrum, capital, launch cadence, and a global distribution ecosystem Those are complementary, not redundant. So instead of viewing this as three independent competitors all converging on the same endpoint, there is a more capital-efficient path: Amazon focuses on: - spectrum aggregation - distribution and ecosystem (including devices) - launch and infrastructure scale AST focuses on: - the hardest part of the stack, which is broadband D2D architecture and cellular integration That is not speculation out of nowhere. It is consistent with how large-scale telecom systems have historically evolved. Layered partnerships where each party owns the part of the stack they are structurally advantaged in. And it aligns with your core observation: The IP from GSAT, MDA, or even Kuiper does not meaningfully shortcut the broadband D2D problem. Which implies one of two outcomes: Either Amazon spends years and billions rebuilding a parallel capability or they accelerate time-to-market by aligning with an existing architecture that already solves the problem From that perspective, this is not bearish for AST. It is the opposite. The more clearly the difficulty of the problem is understood, the more valuable the solution becomes. And if the market ultimately bifurcates into: - ecosystem-driven access and distribution - and best-in-class broadband delivery then the most efficient equilibrium may not be three identical systems competing head-on but a convergence where the strongest pieces of each stack align. That is where this starts to look less like a three-way race and more like a strategic pairing with a third player operating on a different architectural path.

🛰️ THREAD: The battle for space-based cellular broadband is now a 3-way race. SpaceX (Starlink Mobile) vs $ASTS (AST SpaceMobile) vs Amazon (via $11.6B Globalstar acquisition). But only one of them holds a structural, architecture-driven moat that capital cannot replicate. 🧵

The $AMZN - $GSAT isn’t just about “billionaire space races”…it’s about one of the most valuable and hard-to-come-by commodities in an increasingly connected, and autonomy and ai-enabled world: spectrum.

$ASTS - There is still something about April… Negative price likely pulled forward. I suspect with successful hot fire, launch and batch 1 shipment that this is the last week of discounting. Scared money don’t…

$ASTS Please note: ASTS is not in competition with AMZN. AMZN’s acquisition of GSHAT kept that spectrum out of Elon’s hands. Think about that for a minute. That’s very bullish

5/ $ASTS Impact on Globalstar For company with a specialized workforce of 350-400 people, losing 15% of your elite tech staff to a direct competitor is a significant "brain drain" It signals a shift in where the industry's top minds think the most disruptive innovation's happening

🚨Talent War: @AST_SpaceMobile is absorbing Globalstar’s "Golden Core" The race for D2D supremacy isn't just being fought with satellites-it’s being fought with talents. Recent workforce data reveals a massive shift: $ASTS has recruited 12–15% of $GSAT "Golden Core" tech team!

$ASTS People are so enamored by the big names that they often overlook the substance of @AbelAvellan as the pioneer of D2D and his work securing Ligado spectrum for a song, as well as spectrum access through all the MNO partnerships. Smart money gets it even if retail is duped into paying 2T for SpaceX. @AST_SpaceMobile
