D’Angelo is FUNK and SOUL and GOSPEL. He wasn’t trying to create something tangential. He picked up a pen and continued writing along the same scroll Miles wrote on, Sly wrote on, Marvin wrote on, Prince wrote on. It’s 1 huge epic that spans decades and he IS the latest author.
