@AaronBastani The missiles are not “leased” though, Aaron. That claim is disingenuous. The UK bought into a shared pool of missiles. The ones we currently have in service *are* operationally independent. Does that mean we shouldn’t be pursuing a fully independent deterrent? No.

Starmer lets the cat out of bag. He mentions Trident and then adds “and that depends on the United States”. It does. It’s not an independent deterrent. The missiles are leased from the Americans and can only be serviced…in America.

@bmitori @archer_rs Actually, the use of the F35B’s has nothing to do with the size of the carriers. They’re plenty big enough. It was because, like the Invisible Class before them, STOVL was preferred over cats and traps.

@archer_rs Grasping at straws. You have 2 aircraft carriers but they can only use the F35B because they're so small, and you only have enough F35Bs for 1 aircraft carrier at a time. Ouch !

Wait until many Americans realise the software that runs the F35 was developed in the UK by BAE Systems, who still hold the source code. Ouch !

The Trident’s currently in service can be used completely independently of any other nation. Could the USA prevent future draw-downs? Potentially, yes.

A lot of people, (myself included) owe Mike McDaniel an apology. From the outside, it felt like the season was absolutely over with no real reason to play these games. It felt like the team was ready to turn on McDaniel. Tua had just come off a game throwing 3 INT’s showing no confidence whatsoever. This game EASILY could have fell flat on their face today and not give a fuck about what happens. But a HUGE kudos to Mike McDaniel for making sure that didn’t happen. What happens the rest of the season remains to be seen, but man. What a gritty ass win today by McDaniel and this team. #PhinsUp
