To help bolster domestic supplies amid the current pressures, the gov’t is temporarily relaxing fuel quality standards, allowing "dirtier" petrol to be used on Australian roads. I have a question: if national stockpiles remain at these levels and imports are continuing as expected, why is this measure necessary?

Let’s not make fuel like toilet paper during COVID! Supply of fuel is at the highest level for 15 years in Australia. Fuel is coming in as normal. Localised disruptions are to due spikes in demand. People should just purchase fuel as normal and not stockpile. #auspol
