@jmclghln can you shed any light on these graphics the president posted? The WH has declined to comment and I’m very curious about them. Are they yours? Who was polled?

For my entire life it has been true that every time Republicans are in power, they increase deficit spending, and whenever they aren't in power, they complain about deficit spending and pinky swear they will reduce deficit spending if only you vote them back into power. And what do they use that spending for? Tax cuts for the rich, subsidies for big corporate donors, and wars in the Middle East. If you voted Republicans into power again in the belief they would reduce the deficit and not go to war, sorry, but you were lied to and you fell for it, despite being able to learn from the past to avoid that. Yes, you voted for all of this. You may not understand that you did, but you did. This is all just the newest variation of what we see every time the GOP gets handed the reigns of the economy. Democrats need to stop playing this game and instead use deficit spending to make our lives better by focusing on our basic needs and our costs of living. Spend less on the military and more on healthcare and a basic income floor. Also, to hell with the two party system. We need more choices. We need other parties to win via proportional representation.

@Alien_AV @liron I'm not joking. And, I'm not off by 365 times. So far, at a $1b/day, the way has cost approximately $20b. Assuming a full scholarship of about $250,000, that's 80,000 scholarships. Accept the best & brightest. Create a generation of brilliant young adults who love the US.

@liron For a $billion a day, you could provide full scholarships to ten thousand of Iran's best and brightest to US universities. Create an entire generation of highly educated young adults who love & appreciate American values & education, then bring that back to Iran to transform it.

@liron I'm not sure if this question is meaningful unless you couple it with a plan for how you're going to achieve it. Regime change by bombing? Likely to fail. Regime change by providing massive economic support to a popular democratic movement? Maybe

@Jason So, his administration gets the stimulus benefits of tax cuts, and the next administration gets the pain of higher taxes and spending cuts.

@AndrewPollackFL Well, that *must* be true, because nothing in the world is more credible than an unnamed "high school friend."

The Left has been trying so hard to paint this guy as a Republican. Well, his High School friend just set the record straight: Confirmed LEFTIST Now, expect the left to move away from the shooter, and blame the family for being Republicans or religious.

Is it just me, or are some of the popular AI coding assistants (Claude, Grok, ChatGPT) running into capacity constraints more often, and more frequently making obvious, glaring mistakes?

@InNoLaxBro Just found your account through an old post on reddit - I was looking for some advice about stringing a goalie head. Funny coincidence... I'm trying to string this exact same head - a red warrior nemesis II!! Would you mind sending me the sidewall pattern you used! Thanks!

No gimp suit for me Cliff. If I were president, I would have started with a 90-day period for negotiations and then brought the hammer down. By doing it President Trump’s way, the entire world and their citizens got to experience the visceral impact of what massive tariffs would do to their businesses, their stock and bond markets, and their economies. From @realDonaldTrump’s approach, we were able to learn who are the preferred trade partners and who are the problems, based on who showed up early and what they offered, and who chose to retaliate. Every country is now incredibly motivated to make a deal with us as quickly as possible to avoid the draconian consequences they will experience with no deal. China has been isolated as a bad actor and every American company is immediately moving their supply chains out of China back to the U.S. or to trading partners of the U.S. who are likely to make favorable tariff deals with the U.S. Time is not China’s friend. As more time goes by, more companies find other and better alternative suppliers outside of China. So China is incentivized to come to the table soon and to be reasonable in their negotiations. The countries that showed up first and offered zero tariffs will now be rewarded with more business, motivating them to complete their deals with us promptly. All of the above was accomplished with only a few days of market turbulence. I am not concerned with whether this was @realDonaldTrump’s plan from the beginning. I instead focus on the outcome. Looking at the facts objectively, the only word that comes to my mind is ‘brilliant.’

@robbiehendricks @elonmusk It's pretty simple... it's not clear that the auditors are non-partisan, objective, or qualified. If we were *somehow* able to create a team of neutral, objective, qualified auditors that *all sides* agreed on, then everyone would be 100% in favor of the audit.

@thogge @shaunmmaguire None of this is proof of wrongdoing, but they give me substantial pause to trust his public statements about this financial situation, and it doesn't seem advisable to have a President who needs to grossly misrepresent his financial condition.

@thogge @shaunmmaguire Is there any plausible explanation for why DJT trades at 7,000x it's revenue, while losing competitively to x.com? There is ample reason to think there's something fishy, when a substantial fraction of Trump's wealth derives from a meme stock.

@texasprosecutor @deff_jobbs @mattyglesias By my read, the 2023 survey shows a slight decline from 2022, and a level that's lower than it was in 2018. So, crime is up from 2020, which is probably influenced by the lockdown, but below the level from the middle of Trump's term.
