Mint "just works". So does Ubuntu. The problems arise when you need to make some real customizations. I worked in sensitive environments which required to follow both security guidelines but also user experience guidelines --> All the tools used by the devs were .deb and worked only on debian derivatives. The security guidelines required me to recompile the whole userland + kernel with extra hardened flags / options Recompiling and installing a custom kernel on Ubuntu is easy. So is the creation of a .deb and a mirror to deploy it. But recompiling your whole userland... distributing it and maintaining that pipeline? 😭🔫 Even dnf makes it easier tbh. I'd rather choose dnf over apt. But IMO, nothing beats portage.

@sublimationdev @LundukeJournal You know, you complain at Ubuntu, so I gave a better "Ubuntu" option that just works. I'm on Linux for 20 yrs too, I can choose from plenty of available options, but Mint just works for me.

Ubuntu is removing a huge number of supported file systems from their shipping version of the GRUB boot loader. LVM, LUKS, btrfs, hfsplus, xfs, zfs, & mdraid. All are being removed and will no longer be available for booting systems. Once again, tried and true code is being tossed out. This time in favor of systemd for booting. @sublimationdev @LundukeJournal thank you. I was very happy to have the project behind me. When I was outsourced, the company coming in told my employers that what i did 'wasn't possible' and scrapped it all. lol. no more mass scale time machine for them
