I am incredibly excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic journey playing Division 1 soccer at Florida Atlantic University! First, I want to thank God for always looking over me & his guidance in my life. Huge thanks to my family for all their sacrifices and perseverance. This would not be possible without them. Thank you to all my current & past coaches, to my trainers, teammates on so many teams and my friends for all the love, constant encouragement and support along the way. I’m deeply appreciative of every person & experience that have prepared me for this next chapter. Special thanks to Coach Mel, Bruce, Caue, Gui Gui & the entire Sunrise Surf organization for not only believing and pushing me to be the best version of myself, but also for everything that they have done on and off the field. Fort Lauderdale United FC is excited to announce the signing of Julia Grosso, a dynamic defender bringing her talent and experience back to South Florida! 🌴⚽ Born and raised in Sunrise, Florida, Julia’s journey includes leading St. Thomas Aquinas High School to two state championships, captaining at the University of Kentucky, and thriving in Australia’s A-League Women, where she was named 2022–23 Player of the Year at Melbourne City FC. Catch Julia and the team in action at our Spring Home Opener on February 22nd against Lexington Sporting Club. Congrats to our 2009 DPL team for winning the DPL National title! This is the 4th National crown for Sunrise Soccer Club in the last 6 years. It was the final game of the Sting era and a fitting end to a great run. The Club is excited to begin playing as the Surf this August!
