Tom Watson had some strong words about the PGA Tour’s decision to immediately re-instate Brooks Koepka’s membership after he left his contract with LIV Golf, and believes Brooks should have played the Korn Ferry Tour for a year to re-qualify.
Speaking ahead of the Masters, Tom said:
“The Tour made a decision to renege on what they promised when the players left for LIV. They felt that the compensation that he's paid is good enough.
“I thought the LIV players, when they left, they were supposed to be banned for life. If I was commissioner, that's what I would do. I'd say if you're finished with your contract with LIV Golf, if you want to play the PGA Tour again, you come back, and you must play the Korn Ferry Tour for a year to qualify for it.
“They saw it differently. When the players left, they violated the number one rule that we really had out here, which is to protect the sponsors. Sponsors need players. They need the names to be able to promote their tournaments. If the players play wherever they want to play without a conflicting event rule, where you had to seek the permission of the PGA Tour to play in a tournament opposite of a PGA Tour tournament, the sponsors would be hurt by that. I think we all understood that.
“When the players left for LIV, I think it was basically over. They chose to go for the money, which is fine, but to return to the Tour, I thought, was a nonstarter, but apparently it's not.”
Brooks was made to make a $5 million donation to charity, is ineligible for the Player Equity Program, is ineligible for payout from the FedEx Cup Bonus Program and is ineligible for sponsors exemptions into Signature Events.

Augusta Diaries Tue
-Today was kind of the big practice day for me. I warmed up and went to the back nine. Some guy named Rory went just ahead of me. I thought about asking to play together but I figured he wanted to play alone and I wanted to hit a lot of shots around the greens.
-Tried to hit a lot of chip shots with couple different clubs to see which club might be better and what not. Also hit a lot of the typical putts on the greens. Good thing about aimpoint is that I can write down pretty specifically on what % slope I think it is. Very useful especially with a lot of the putts coming from similar spots each yr. A guy like Phil had written down copious amount of notes in his yardage book.
-I hit the skip shot on 16. I can’t ever get myself to hit it hard enough because I’m afraid to not hit the water and hit one of the patrons. My caddie also tried it… he has the opposite problem. He hasn’t hit the water either time lol. Bunkers both times.
-Then hit a few more golf balls with my swing coach Sean Foley. Wasn’t too much different stuff. It’s a little tinkering of feels here and there but the big stuff doesn’t change.

@thecontextaus @therealrukshan He definitely pissed off the top brass in the Army and Canberra. They coming for him. A jury won’t convict him though.

@DerrickEvans4WV USA use NATO as a FOB to assert global dominance, and they have to pay for it. Europe and Asia manufacture everything they need the US manufactures nothing. The US needs Europe more than Europe needs the US. Kick them out asap. Let them trade with Peru. 🤣🤣🤣
