In my 20s I lived in a punk house in PDX that got evicted because we threw our compost out the kitchen window. I am now in my 50s, living with a bunch of Burmese in their 20s. We throw our kitchen waste out the window. Our Thai landlord doesn't give one fuck.

As flawed as Black Flame was (and did we ever actually find out if the co-author was a fascist?), I agree that anarchist historiography needs an approach other than treating anarchism as some hydra-headed theory and lumping in every anti-authoritarian figure and movement

It's been a while but one of the tells in this book, if I remember correctly, was their strange attack on race traitor politics. I think they named Joel Olson. I read it when it came out so I could be misremembering. But that's my impression.

@Reverend_Banjo the scholarship was amazingly shoddy. I looked up numerous references where the sources didn’t say what the authors claim they did.
Their anarchism had the same problem by lumping in non-anarchists they liked. They would’ve been better off just saying “here are our politics.”

@PhxInsurgent It’s not a bad analysis of the document, but these sorts of advocacies of revolutionary strategies are produced constantly. It was interesting that the analysis points out that there is a lack of poetry that’s so common amongst these type types of publications.

I am sad to report the passing of Chip Berlet. He was one of very few people consistently researching & organizing against the U.S. Far Right from the 1970s to the '00s. His 2000 book "Right-Wing Populism in America" remains all-to-relevant.
