@MrsCJUK23 I'm new to teaching the IB - any suggestions that have worked really well for you?

@MissSFEnglish I think it all comes down to knowing your class and the children in front of you. Some children find cold calling distressing but if you know that you know to get them involved in a different way. Most will be fine if they feel you classroom is a safe environment

I need opinions on cold-calling: there is so much conflicted research. On one hand cold-calling is cruel and unfair and on the other hand, it isn’t testing all student’s AFL and it allows a ‘lazy room’. What is your view?

@Strickomaster @halfdutchbird In English I have come to the conclusion I like mixed at KS3 and setting in KS4. My set 4s each year are so much more confident sharing their ideas and reading aloud than they ever where when in mixed ks3 classes.

Question: As a full time tabled table teacher how do you motivate yourself to go the gym when your at work till 5/half 5 every day and just want to go home? Don’t want to lose the progress I’ve made this year but I have literally no energy after this week 😂🙈

Hi folks- can I please ask how departments are interpreting the NC requirements for teaching of two Shakespeare plays at KS3. We are currently studying the whole narrative (not the whole scripts) but through analysis of extracts… @Team_English1 #teamenglish

@HoDandHeart Yes I guess so, the effect is the most important. I just think to achieve effect in a perceptive way, you’re really considering the word/device itself. Perhaps that’s something I need to reflect on and change the way I teach this. Thanks for the thought.
