The guy squirting water into Zach Ertz’s mouth is Joe O’Pella. He’s an athletic trainer that’s been with the team for over 15 years at this point. NFL teams don’t really have water boys, athletic trainers are usually the ones responsible for having water on the practice field and during games, but this post is absolutely hilarious. A guy who rehabbed my ACL tear in my second year, has a masters degree from Pitt, and has years of experience keeping Eagles players healthy and on the field being called a “Waterboy” is crazy, and I’m already giving him shit for it, but good lord this post is so wildly misleading. Either way, thought I’d clear the air, that the people with Water Bottles during games actually serve much bigger roles on NFL Teams.

Wow: NFL waterboys earn over 3 THOUSAND dollars per game, which averages out to more than $50K per season, not including tips. Waterboys also attend practices, handle locker room prep, and travel with the team. What a fantastic job to have 💸📈

@TheAmazingSW @Farzin21 I never said it did. I’m more so indicating that there could be another option with people getting paid off a lot in these scenarios vs people on tl saying that the outcome means he didn’t do it. It is what it is.

This isn’t evidence. How do we know where those bruises came from? Same with the pictures she posted? How do we know for sure who caused all that damage. The NFL will never suspend/fine a player unless there is clear proof of what they’re accused of doing.

She had friends and family members in the Instagram post helping fight back against Rice’s family member (who apparently is his grandmother), but her friends/family kept saying they had proof. Either they never showed that proof or simply didn’t have any as they claimed.

Got a lot of criticism this offseason for saying that the Chiefs won’t cut him nor will the NFL suspend him until there is concrete evidence. I hope one day, society will graduate from the “guilty before proven innocent” point of view.
