THREAD My takeaways from the epic Milano Sanremo day 🤯 1. I don’t think people understand what Tadej did yesterday. I saw people saying comments that of course Pogi has won, he is the strongest etc. But what Tadej did yesterday was, for me, one of his biggest performances of his career, if not the biggest. He crashed at a really high speed and was losing in the peloton going full speed for more than 30 seconds. Even the Hungarian commentators said Pogi might be an alien, but this is too much for him to win from this situation. And he got back. He was overtaking the peloton on Cipressa like they were juniors and got to the front with McNulty. And attacked and attacked and broke the Cipressa record. INTO THE HEADWIND. Then dropped MVDP on his best terrain, on 4% short climb, again attacked like 3 times, started then dropping the best descender in the Poggio descent, and beat him in the sprint. Wounded, bruised he still did it. Absolutely insane. 📷: mr. pinko

Craig Baird - Canadian History Ehx
There is a unique dialect of the Irish language that evolved in Newfoundland and became forever linked with the island. It is called Newfoundland Irish and many work to keep the language alive. This is the story. 🧵 1/7

@lucasaganronald Complete bollocks analysis. Seixas put in superb effort, yes. Pogi would’ve ensured he blew up eventually. The 2026 cycling season will again be dominated by the Slovenian.

THREAD My takeaways from a superb Strade Bianche day 🫶🏻 1. One big problem 🤭 There is one serious problem for the future… Paul Seixas. Not for us cycling fans, not for cycling in general, but for Pogačar and mainly UAE. Do you know how many headaches they will have in the UAE because of him in the future? And that future might not be that far away as it seems. Sorry, but almost following Pogačar at his perfectly suited race, being his biggest problem, and still not blowing up and coming second at 19 years of age? Absolutely insane. But this is what cycling needs. Another alien, finally a proper rival for Pogačar. And that he is from the biggest cycling country in the world is a big bonus. Nothing against Vingegaard or Remco, but they are not a real competition now for Pogi at GrandTours or hilly monuments. Cycling needs a real rival for Pogi. Can’t wait for those Pogačar - Seixas battles in the future. 📷: #StradeBianche

Today we entered a totally new level of cycling… Because Tadej Pogačar not only won again with 80+ km solo, but also set a new average speed record for the race. And not even by a little margin. The previous fastest editions were in 2025 with 40.705 km/h avg. speed and in 2023 with 40.636 km/h avg. speed. And now? Absolutely crazy 42.700 km/h avg. speed. Wow 🤯 📷: pissei #StradeBianche

It’s Ottawa’s 200th Anniversary this year. 1826-2026 Two hundred years of history. Have we even seen a single thing celebrating this fact? I’m thinking I do my own interactive commemoration program. Anyone in? ottawarewind.com/2016/04/27/ott…

Mathieu van der Poel about the end of his career: "They say you never get used to winning, but for sure, you get a bit used to it. That doesn't mean it gets less special, it's even the opposite. I'm coming to an age now where maybe I'll start to stop winning. There will be time when that happens.” "Somebody once said that you never know when you have won your last race and this is true. Now I try to enjoy my victories more than I did a couple of years ago, because I know it's not something that is usual. It's something I want to enjoy, because you never know when that last moment is coming." "My general goal is to try and be on this level for as long as possible. When I end my career, I want it to be on a high note, not just riding two or three years extra maybe because it's better financially. I want to be a rider that stops on a decent level. The most important thing is to just enjoy riding my bike for as long as l'm a professional.” "I'm proud to be part of this generation of cyclists with riders like Tadej who is going to be remembered for being one of the best there has ever been in cycling. I want my legacy to be that I was part of the way that we changed bike racing."
