@TBU12345678 No forward earnings anchor (management fee) and poorly tax sheltered earnings for the PMs. Kenny and Izzy live good lives though don’t you worry, as does Bobby. “Extremely Successful” 100mm NW pod pm probably comes into work stressed every day that the money will dry up.

the one thing I like about the OG Tiger Cub guys is that they really live/lived "the life". PJs, Augusta memberships, the best wine, epic houses in the Hamptons. for whatever reason the pod guys never picked up high class tastes, even with the big share shift of $

Hamza is amongst the two people I know around my age who started a real hedge-fund and deploying serious amounts of capital. I can’t recall the other person’s name but he is also based in London I’m 30 - about to be 31. Have ~4 years to close the $19.9Bn gap!
The Wall Street Journal@WSJ

Hamza Lemssouguer is the fastest-growing new hedge-fund manager—the 35-year-old manages $20 billion at Arini Capital. He also owns 160 rare parrots. on.wsj.com/41O4dvW

@volisdead Well said - I never worked at a hedge fund before launching AD Fund Management LP. My only job was at Greystar covering the US multifamily, single-family rental, and student housing sectors on the US investments team. So entered this world as an outsider, I liked that status

@TheSpeculator0 You can hedge this pretty well already in OTC markets with outperformance options but there’s no listed correlation market. A better question is what credit spread you need to lend to Marex? :)

This is a slightly exotic outperformance option. Kalshi doesn't even seem to offer it (can't find it at least) and the PM liquidity is in the thousands. You can hedge most of the risk of this product by trading vanilla options and the stocks, not everything needs to be related to prediction markets.
Mick Bransfield@MickBransfield

London-based Marex Group Plc created and sold the first instance of this new kind of security, which will pay out a 7% coupon if Nvidia Corp. is still the world’s largest company in a year. Marex was able to create the note because prediction markets like Kalshi offer it a place to hedge its risks as the odds move over time.

Funny with all the noise about equity L/S pod blowups seems like every factor neutral + systematic L/S shop keeps printing money. Only ones getting hit are the large cap tech bros who have no choice but to run long hyperscalers, NVDA, and AVGO with the 70bn at 50% nets

And before you tell me the large cap tech bros aren’t smart they obviously see the same opportunities in 1bn mkt cap semis but a 50% or 100% q in 250m of bloom energy or lumentum just isn’t large enough dollar pnl to offset the 15% loss on 5 yards of $META or $MSFT

All the losses at the big platforms are just based on how bad fixed income bros got hosed and macros too deep in the cookie jar in gold, Korea, and Japan

@volisdead It's not the vol spread, it's the variance spread. Every now and again people are reminded why you don't sell the $10 up strike at a penny at 3:01
