I doubt Julius Malema took the charge seriously at first. At some point he dismissed it as a toy gun. Even people around him probably told him it was nothing. Hence, he was confident the case wouldn’t go anywhere. He even made jokes about it.

I seriously doubt that the higher courts will overturn Malema's conviction. What they may lower, is his sentence. He did fire a gun in public, that is beyond doubt.

Maybe I am studying a different kind of law but what I have been taught is that, after being sentenced you go to prison and you'll appeal the matter whilst in prison. So why are y'all saying that Julius Malema is not sleeping in a prison cell tonight?
