@jerseyh0mo But yet I'm sure you don't even bat an eye at the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS IN THEFT AND ILLEGAL FRAUD ENABLED BY THE LEFT AND DEMOCRATS ALL OVER THE COUTNRY RIGHT......you want to feed the hungry? Your cult needs to be abolished and all of them imprisoned

@jerseyh0mo You get no benefit for feeding starving kids in Africa there is 0 ROI on that vs investing $80 billion into the metaverse there is a chance that it turns into much more than $80b, if you feed the poor then you don’t get that ROI

@jerseyh0mo The U.S. spends $1.8 trillion a year on low income assistance yet we still have “hungry” people. $120 billion a year on SNAP alone. It’s not a funding problem

Imagine if Henry Ford, instead of using his fortune to improve car manufacturing, making cars cheaper and faster to produce, allowing poor people to have cars, improving poor people's lives, he decided to just buy food to feed the hungry. But yeah, of course Mark Zuckerberg's Metaverse is the complete opposite of what Henry Ford did, and buying food to feed the hungry for a while would be better money spent.

@jerseyh0mo YES! And that's the really sickening and disgusting part of all this: the opportunity cost. Who many homeless and hungry people could have been housed and fed with $80 BILLION? What diseases could have been cured? How much GOOD could that money have actually done for the world?

@jerseyh0mo Facebook was not his original idea but he managed to be smart about it and somehow it’s all in the past. But his real project was metaverse which failed after those numbers wow! Well it’s not like he’s going to lose his job.

@Meta you should investigate a money laundering scheme here. Fishy fishy fishy. I remember when I first saw Zuck talking about this metaverse. I thought that it was weird. who is going to live in the metaverse, go shopping and spend all of their time with a VR headset on? I was like, how many basement dwellers are there? Im disappointed Meta spent $80B on this. Is Meta so big that this initiative just continued to get funded without anyone pumping the brakes until now? My point is, Meta has all of the resources to figure out if something will work before spending $80B. Who else smells something fishy?

They thought they can bring people and brand into this virtual world, but AI changed the game, now the real world with a smart glass can be made hybrid world with real and virtual combined, but they will move it to meta glass i feel that now, also its some kind of finacial play, where a cash burden has been reduced and moved the cash to meta glass and they will integrate foundation of metaverse into it and then raise new funding for new idea though, but its good from pov of a business person maybe not from pov of a common man.

@jerseyh0mo They simply didn’t listen to their players. Simple as that. We want something akin to ready player one. That’s the outline… but Meta didn’t listen to us the users.

Those $80b didn't disappear. Concrete example of the stack finding its use case: Meta's Reality Labs built the rendering and spatial computing infrastructure for the Metaverse. That same infrastructure now powers Meta AI's real-time video processing and its mixed reality glasses. Quest 3 sold more units in Q4 2024 than any previous Meta headset. The $80B didn't build a world people wanted to live in. It built the manufacturing and software pipeline that makes spatial AI viable. Same pattern: AT&T built telephone infrastructure for voice. The internet found it and used it for everything else.
