Came back earlier after a week of work in Mindanao, and will be flying to Cebu later for another week (this time for a passion project). I have a few hours in between to water my plants and visit Toyo Eatery’s exhibition. Kaka-miss rin pala ang Maynila!

#ArtinthePark is that time of the year where all my favorite potters are in one place—Joey de Castro, the Pettyjohns, EJ of Cornerstone, among many others. While pottery is highly valued in Japan, it still a growing art form in the Philippines that they are still very affordable.

Cloud pruning began in Japan, as part of niwaki — the practice of shaping “garden trees” into sculptural forms.

It was so fun collaborating the past month with the whole Toyo Team, Camille Quintos, and Migs Rosales who did a good job in curating it! The special exhibition will run until March 28 at Aphro in Makati City.

NEWS: Globe Telecom said it has successfully tested Starlink’s Mobile service in the Philippines, allowing phones to connect in areas with no signal. The pilot was done in Rizal, Batangas, and Bataan, where users were able to send messages, make calls, and use data even without nearby cell towers. "This will be our lifeline, especially during disasters and our complementary coverage in areas where terrestrial network is not available," said Joel Agustin, Senior Vice President for Service Planning and Engineering at Globe. "The service will also address the connectivity requirements of GIDA (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas) communities and strengthen coverage across the country's territorial boundaries," he added.

In these photos taken in 1945 during the “Liberation of Panay”, we can still see the Oton Church, which was once one of Philippines’ biggest churches. While it survived World War II, it was eventually destroyed 3 years after by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake named “Lady Caycay.”
