As President Donald Trump pushes Congress to pass a sweeping overhaul of federal voting rules, a new poll finds Americans are conflicted about the competing issues of voter access and preventing ineligible votes from being cast. According to a new PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, nearly 6 in 10 Americans say it is more important to make sure everyone who wants to vote can do so, while 41% say their bigger concern is making sure no one votes who is not eligible. Fifty-eight percent of Americans are concerned that people will show up to the polls in November only to be told they are not eligible, a striking 16 percentage point jump from January 2020. Democrats are driving that concern: Nearly three-quarters are worried. Among Republicans and independents, 47% share that view. The poll also reveals a sharp disparity between younger and older voters. Three-quarters of Americans under 30 years old are concerned about voters being told they are not eligible, while just 43% of Americans 60 years old and above share the concern.

🚨 BREAKING: Virginia Democrats Just Criminalized Carrying Common Firearms in Public The 2026 General Assembly just sent one of the most sweeping gun bills in Virginia history to Governor Spanberger's desk — and she's expected to sign it. HB 1524 / SB 727 doesn't just restrict where you can carry. It effectively bans carrying most semi-automatic, center-fire rifles and pistols anywhere open to the public — streets, sidewalks, parks, rights-of-way — statewide. Not just NOVA. Not just cities. Everywhere in the Commonwealth. Here's what that means in plain English: 🔴 If your rifle accepts a detachable magazine and has common features like a folding stock or forward grip, carrying it in public (like in your truck on a public road) is now a Class 1 misdemeanor — up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine. 🔴 Your concealed handgun permit doesn't protect you. Democrats stripped that exemption that would allow you to carry concealed in public. The most vetted, law-abiding gun owners in Virginia just lost their protection under this law. 🔴 The bill doesn't stop criminals — it disarms law-abiding citizens. I voted NO. I will always vote NO on bills like this. The Supreme Court was crystal clear in Bruen (2022): law-abiding Americans have a constitutional right to carry firearms in public. This law is unconstitutional on its face, and I expect it will be challenged in court immediately. Virginia's law-abiding gun owners deserve better than complete disarmament by the Left.
