Actually, I think Peter Obi is playing the long game for the first time in a while. His relationship with the Northern stakeholders in the last few months shows he is ready to build with others. If he plays his part well, he will be President of this great country some day.

My dear fellow Nigerians, Today, as I clock another year in the journey of life, I'm filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity given me to serve this great nation. I want to take this moment to thank Nigerians for their messages, show of love and prayers on the occasion of my 74th birthday. I thank all our citizens for their patriotism, solidarity and support for our administration. To those who have taken space in newspapers or paid for air time on radio and television to wish me well, I thank you immensely. I must thank my wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, for her kind and loving words. I also thank Vice President Kashim Shettima for all he said about me. Consistent with my tradition over the years to mark my birthday in line with the mood of the nation each year, I resolved to also observe this year's birthday low key. As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we've faced since we initiated our reforms. The recent news from Maiduguri, Borno State, is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time. I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear, as they are under constant pressure from our brave armed forces and security agencies operating in various theatres. We will continue to intensify our efforts against all criminal elements, wherever they may be. I must commend the courage and fighting spirit of our patriotic troops who successfully repelled the coordinated attacks by these terrorists on military positions in the state. The Monday attacks were desperate acts of the evil-minded terrorist groups. Our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down. Just last weekend, during a security meeting with leaders of security and intelligence agencies, I approved additional equipment and operational support to enhance their capabilities. This effort is already in progress. Additionally, I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. I have also directed the emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured. There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. What would it take to extend the railway from Moniya to a train station in Ibadan and from there to Abuja? What's the minister of transportation doing?

The Lagos–Ibadan Standard Gauge Railway is about 157 km long, with multiple stops at Mobolaji Johnson Station, Agege station Abeokuta Train Station, and Obafemi Awolowo Station, Moniya. When you factor in station stops, passenger boarding, and safety protocols, a ~2-hour schedule is normal for a conventional intercity service. High-speed rail requires dedicated infrastructure and much larger investment. What the Nigerian Railway Corporation is doing now is building a reliable rail culture first—speed upgrades come with network maturity.

After 5years why is Lagos-Ibadan journey taking 2hours when it can be completed at 1hour?
