Revisiting @JenevoraW's excellent "Teaching Singing to Children and Young Adults" & I love this, from the Introduction. It strikes me that many educational singing environments, from youth ensembles to music colleges, have forgotten their role as a safe space for 'serious play'

Of course everyone has their opinion, although no mention was made of the fact that all three nights sold out, the choir took 5 bows each night and that many audience members, including a lovely 91 yr old former war requiem chorister, complimented the music in tears. Tweet 4)👇🏾

This afternoon at 4pm - the first state school choir to broadcast BBC Choral Evensong in its 96 year history. Hopefully a seismic moment, and a welcome reminder to so many that independent schools don't have a monopoly on outstanding music-making.
