Priscilla Oppenheimer spent more than two decades in the San Diego Padres front office, rising from secretary in the scouting department in 1983 to Director of Minor League Operations from 1993 to 2006. She was the first woman in MLB to hold that title. During her tenure, Oppenheimer helped the Padres develop dozens of Major Leaguers, helped to increase pay for athletic trainers, and organized classes for Latin American players to learn English. “I’ve had kids say to me, ‘You made the difference in my life,’ says Oppenheimer, now 85. “That to me is worth everything.” #WomensHistoryMonth
