@Nick_Delehanty Hey, remember that time you said the Trinity Students should be jailed for holding up traffic, for protesting at Dublin Port for Palestine?

@walsh_olwy49662 In 2025 the Irish government spent; 1. €1.2 billion on IPAS accommodation. 2. €6+ billion on NGO funding. 3. €800 million on foreign aid. 4. RTE €225 million as part of the €750 million multi-year bail out. Take your pick.

If you are an outsider wondering why Irish hauliers and farmers are protesting, here is a breakdown of how much the government takes from every litre of petrol and diesel. Petrol - 59% tax Diesel - 52% tax All of this is on top of soaring electricity, decades of abandonment of native industry in favour of US FDI get rich quick investment. Private enterprise and farmers have been squeezed for decades. The current fuel crisis is simply the straw that broke the camel's back.

@bendelo This is shameful. As one autistic person to another the policies enacted by people like Nigel Farage and Reform actively hurt autistic people.

@culladgh Just to be clear, it was not the farmers shouting and roaring, it was McDonnell, Pepper and the usual suspects. We were there for about 30mins before this happened and spoke to multiple farmers, agri workers and truckers who were more than happy to speak!

Honest Question: Where is the €35,000 that was raised for Nick Delahanty's failed presidential bid. With money like that, we could help to fund some fuel for honest working-class people who are struggling. The money should still be available. Just a thought.

Honest Question: When was the last time Harris or Martin physically pumped petrol into their own car? Im going to guess its somewhere between 6 & 15 years.

I was baptised and confirmed in the Catholic Church, but I haven’t been a believer in a long long time. Even if it is only cultural, Leo is definitely building on the foundation laid by Francis, and is making the Catholic Church worth coming back to.

The Avignon Papacy reference is the detail that demands attention. An American defense official invoked a 14th-century episode in which the French Crown physically relocated the papacy to Avignon and controlled it for 67 years - as an implicit model for what happens to religious institutions that oppose state power. That's not a slip of the tongue. That's a studied historical reference deployed deliberately in a room with the Pope's senior diplomat. The message was not subtle. Leo heard it. He spent Holy Week delivering what papal scholars described as a sustained theological argument about the nature of power and imperial violence. On Palm Sunday he said Jesus rejects the prayers of those who wage war. On Easter Sunday - the same morning Trump posted his expletive-filled threat on Truth Social - Leo told world leaders to lay down weapons. On Tuesday he called the civilization threat "truly unacceptable" and asked citizens directly to contact their elected representatives. The White House's response to the Pope's Tuesday statement: "The Iranian people welcome the sound of bombs because it means their oppressors are losing." The first American pope will spend America's 250th birthday on Lampedusa with migrants. One Vatican official told The Free Press: "The Pope may well never visit the United States under this administration." The Pentagon summoned a cardinal and invoked the Avignon Papacy. The Pope responded by asking 1.4 billion Catholics to call their congressmen.

@Nick_Delehanty @robbiekane74 Speaking on my own behalf, there are loads of things ICTU have wrong. But in the current situation they’re not wrong on carbon tax. Having said that trade unions and their members should be leading decarbonisation of the economy. Only dunces think there’s a future in fossil fuels
