A very angry rant: For years I have told the @RSAIreland that training is the answer for all the traffic collisions. Retests should be required when you have more than 6 points. Punishments should be severe for drunk/drug-driving Every ten years you must resit the driving test in full New drivers should be tested on motorways and dual carriageways. Fail the driving test more than three times and the instructor should be examined. Driving instructors should take a real advanced driving course that tests and improves their skills. Newly qualified drivers should have to sit on the same advanced driving course. Years of targeting speed through costly TV ads and the numbers are dismal. Any experienced driver in Ireland at the moment is full of horror stories of the madness on the roads. We see it every day now, near misses, driving in the centre lane looking at a phone, inappropriate speeding, aggression and near-zero policing from a lack of Traffic Corp, and speed vans which are having no effect. The increase in road deaths is now the worst in Europe and what I'm saying seems to fall on deaf ears as I'm only moaning unlike the "journalists" that are paid to put out messages that no one is listening to. We should be in a great position with a small population and a sea border but we don't know what causes the crashes because GDPR problems that the department has hidden behind for years. Meanwhile, we are at the bottom of the table and that's the reality.

It is with great sadness that I have heard of the passing of our good friend and colleague, John O’Mahony. A sporting hero. A champion. A gentleman. Thinking of his wife Geraldine, his 5 daughters, his grandchildren & extended family. May he rest in peace
