So I just did something random and I can’t stop thinking about it. I went on merca.earth, found an empty spot on the world map, drew a shape around a piece of land and signed a transaction. Took me maybe two minutes. Just like that, that little corner of the earth had my name on it. No auction. No competition. Just me and a piece of the world. But then I read how it actually works and my mind shifted. Anyone can buy my land from me. At any time. And I cannot say no. I don’t set the price either, the protocol does. Every time the land changes hands, the price goes up. So the only way I keep my spot is if it becomes too expensive for anyone to want it. Think about that for a second. You’re not really an owner.
