Genuine question. Do you feel like you're wasting your life when you play video games for hours? I personally don't but I've heard many others do? I'm thinking it depends on what your current situation is. Lemme know in the replies!

@Osmostrix i can see where you're coming from although i can argue that some of games (like Marvel Rivals) can have enriching story and scenery. As a marvel fan there are many things in Rivals that i enjoy seeing references to or depicted

@AutotuneReady Yeah, if you're every match brings something new that would be one thing, but it's not always like that. Meanwhile you don't just complete missions in other games, you enjoy scenery, listen to music, and contemplate story. A much wider range of enriching experiences exists.

@chi_goes_awoo yes! i play a ton of games that are "competitive" in nature but never play them competitively! it's so freeing

@AutotuneReady exactly, for this reason i kind of don't play any competitive shooters anymore, not worth the stress, i just play casually now and i forbid myself from ranked in any game. i'm so free~ 😌

@AutotuneReady Exactly, and I think that sort of applies for everything. When I play games I know that I can get super deep into and lose track of time I usually put an alarm on my phone. (I suffer from time blindness in many areas of life not just gaming lol)

@Osmostrix so for your experience, it would get monotonous? i know that's not the case for everyone. there are plenty of sessions that i've had for like all day on Halo, Marvel Rivals, Battlefield, etc. with friends But yeah that makes sense the formula can sometimes get stiff.

@AutotuneReady You can have fun, but that will be based on execution of strategy, gameplay mechanics, and team interactions. Doing that for long periods will get monotonous. Meanwhile, puzzle games and platformers are meant to provide progressive challenge with each level.
