LCSs are still taking advantage of the market to make more then just a buck off this product. Some more guilty then others.

@BeFreeNeo @CardPurchaser That’s how almost all business operate. Scalpers are non business who buy up almost a lot of supply. LCSs usually are allocated minimum to make money on. Standard markup for all retail for companies to make money is 3x.

@moonscardshop @CardPurchaser That’s a fair point. However, what isn’t fair is pricing out your own customers by matching scalper-level prices, especially when you have the advantage of sourcing product directly from the supplier. Plenty shops exist who are fair and still profitable.

Fair question. The difference is overhead and community. Your LCS has rent, staff, utilities, and often waited months on an allocation list just to get product. The markup covers that. A scalper has none of that. They just have a bot and a eBay account. One builds the hobby, one just bleeds it 💯

@stottpie @CardPurchaser I understand the shops that have to buy at market price like the rest of us. I’m specifically referring to those with direct Topps accounts who are still charging premiums that end up pricing out their own loyal customers.
