Tory backbench MPs will today portray themselves as champions of civil liberties. These are the same people who have voted to criminalise peaceful protests, allow citizenship to stripped without notice, and disenfranchise millions of people. They don't care about your freedoms.

This is yet another part of a sustained attack on the human rights we all enjoy. These changes would tip the scales of justice in favour of the government at the expense of the individual, while making it harder to seek protection from the courts. theguardian.com/politics/2021/…
