The Pink ear (𝘍𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘴) is a fast-growing, mat-forming groundcover with glossy rounded leaves and delicate trumpet flowers. Endemic to the Eastern & Western Cape, it tolerates heat & drought - and even buries its fruit underground! #FalkiaRepens #FloralFriday

🌿 #ThreatenedSpeciesThursday 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴 was once a defining feature of sandstone grasslands. Today, most of its habitat has been lost to agriculture and development. Now Endangered, its survival depends on protecting the last remaining grassland fragments.

🌸 #FloralFriday Meet the striking #BellStapelia (𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘨𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘢) — a succulent with deep maroon, bell-shaped flowers (Nov–Jan). Its subtle carrion scent attracts flies for pollination. Indigenous to SA & Eswatini, it’s a hardy, unusual garden feature. 🔔🌱
