True to his character, he didn’t want any fuss or fanfare to mark this incredible milestone.
So, we kept it simple — just a small plaque to honour 50 years in business and a lifetime of hard work.
Congratulations, Dad — we’re so proud of you.
50 Years of Bray's Bar
On the 1st of September 1975, my Dad - Michael Bray - arrived in Fordstown and took over the pub.
50 years later, he’s still behind the counter.
60 not out.
Yesterday marked the latest milestone appearance in the Meath jersey for Donal Keogan as the Rathkenny player lined out for a 60th time in Championship Football for his county since making his debut against Wicklow in 2012.
That debut appearance is his sole as a replacement in Championship Football with all other 59 appearances coming as a member of the starting XV.

Very best wishes to Ráth Chairn and Clann na nGael as they host Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta this weekend.
Tá sár-oibre déanta acu agus tá cuma iontach ar an bpáirc agus ar an sráidbhaile.

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Dingle.
The first parade on St. Patrick's day is at 6am in Dingle. Amazing to see this tradition which dates back to the 1880s. #StPatricksDay2025#Dingle
Recorded my last Inside Politics pod yesterday - I’ll miss it lots and of course my brilliant colleagues in the Irish Times. Delighted and excited to be heading over the Sunday Times as their Political Editor in a few weeks.

I have been seeking funding for this project in Cortown over the last few years and I have worked with the GAA Club, the school, church and local community to have these works carried.
These works will greatly improve road safety, lighting & the general streetscape of the village
➡️ Eight new streetlights will be installed in the village in early 2025.
➡️ A new raised area pedestrian crossing will be installed at the school.
➡️ There will also be a raised area speed ramp near the GAA pitch.
➡️ Upgrade works to the footpaths are being carried out.

As you will have seen there have been loads of works taking place in Cortown over recent weeks. A new road surface has been laid and this will be completed in early January.
I will be forever grateful for the opportunities, advice and wisdom you have given me politically and professionally.
We will greatly miss one of the true good guys exiting the political stage.
He has given his heart and soul to our democracy and to the people of Meath as Councillor, Mayor, Senator & TD and we are better for his service.
I have had the privilege of soldiering with Shane for over 10 years now. I couldn't have asked for a better friend, colleague & boss
Thank you Shane
As you may have heard Senator @ShaneCassells has decided to step away from elected political life.
Shane has been an amazing ambassador and servent for Meath, Navan and Fianna Fáil over the past 25 years.
