The words we speak matter. That’s why I believe we need to speak words of truth and hope not only to ourselves but to others as well. Here are 20 things we should say more often if we want to make the world more positive:

A4: I think expectations have to connect to Ss own goals too. What are their desired outcomes? What behaviors of theirs are most likely to produce those outcomes? #LEARNLAP

A4: keep it simple. Too many “rules” is defeating. “Work hard and be respectful,” and teach students how their choices abide by these or not as you go. #LEARNLAP

@MathmagicalM Yes! They’re pleasantly surprised and feel known when we remember something unique about them.

A2: Be present when you are with them. Ask Ss questions about themselves then actively listen and remember answers to engage w/ throughout the school year #LearnLAP

@susangbarber I’ve found that students often come with the misconception that “editing” or “revising” often just means fixing grammar errors. Where does this come from? Part of the process is showing them there’s so much more to consider as they draft and revise!

I'm not really a call out person but for all of the English teachers who are only correcting spelling, commas, and MLA format errors and think they are teaching writing, you are mistaken. 1/1
