At COMSPOC, we're proud of all our people, every day. But once in a while, someone really hogs the spotlight, and we're all forced to admit, yeah, OK, maybe we're extra proud of that person. And so today we are thrilled — and extra proud — to congratulate David Vallado for being the 2025 recipient of the @astrosociety's Dirk Brouwer Award. The award citation reads, "For outstanding contributions to astrodynamics, with applications in space domain awareness, orbit determination, and maneuver detection, and for educational contributions and open-source software via Fundamentals of Astrodynamics and Applications." The last part refers to David's esteemed textbook on astrodynamics, which gives him the right to say, yes, actually, he did write the book on that! In addition to being a venerated (and now lifetime-award-winning) astrodynamicist, David is a warm, generous, and humble friend and colleague to everyone at COMSPOC and in the space scientific community.
