@TrussellUK@juliebentley And how is it going to be paid for? Like it or not that’s a question that needs answering. Will taxes go up? Other services to be cut? Save money by cutting costs in public services? It’s an important question. It’s not enough to campaign about wanting more money.
We're campaigning for an Essentials Guarantee that would make sure the basic rate of Universal Credit at least covers the cost of the essentials, like food and bills.
It's not right that people are having to decide between heating and eating, or are skipping meals so their children can eat . The UK government has a moral responsibility to fix this - and it's also their responsibility to prioritise spending to make it happen.
