@BrianSimpsonKY Good point. I never scratch umpires. Glad to have someone but when they forget the count and outs and basic stuff multiple times the fans and coaches start to get chippy.

@CoachBryceRaley I umpired 6th/7th region SB a couple years ago….I never had any issues with any coaches or parents. But being able to pick what schools you want and don’t want to do may have factored into that.

Let’s start a fund to train and pay umpires more.
It’s been bad at the High School level, but the stuff I’ve seen at the small college level is wild.
But they have a pulse and we can play the games …

@jpschmidtjr Makes sense.
We had some umps in the 5th the last few weeks that had no idea on some basic rulings.
It didn’t affect the outcomes of any games but it creates an uncontrolled feel and fans see the blood in the water when it’s too obvious and start getting wven more bold.

@CoachBryceRaley The 💰 isn’t the real issue IMO. It’s the umps safety/accountability; walking to car, am I safe? Coming off field safe? Event coordinators, hosting schools & their admin must help. A small % of parents have made it a job many don’t want to do w/out some real protection

Lost a 4-3 game against Gator, a tough pitcher at North Bullitt while down 3 starters.
Hoping this adversity makes us stronger and builds depth for the late stretch!

Beat a tough Hart Co team 14-12 that kills it at the plate, beat Collins 16-5, Whitefield 18-1, Carroll County 3-2. Lost a one run game to a solid Nelson County team 7-6. Lost 5-0 to North Hardin against a top strikeout arm from last year. Hung around with Eastern for 6 innings.

Proud of my CEC softball group. We have played 4 games w/o our starting catcher, every game w/o our backup catcher and we’ve had 2 left side infielders out multiple games and a young gun gone at travel. Still went 4-5.

South Warren's softball team is 18-0 and has outscored its opponents 229-11. The Spartans have a team batting average of .485 and have 34 home runs in 18 games.
