History teacher, daughter, sister, sister in-law, aunt, and just plain awesome. I teach World History and A.P. European History. Opinions are my own.

Wow! This is the line to drop off ballots in the Villages, a historically Republican area. Florida Democrats are fired up.

@MarcusLuther6 I’ve always done a “Silent Conversation” to start a unit, but I like this idea better. I’m going to try engaging families by having these statements on the board during Back to School Night and comparing what adults said to my students.

There are a few things that I like consistency in when planning/resourcing lessons; one of them is the icons I use to indicate activity types. I like students to know that there is a reason behind the activity - it's not just for the sake of it. These are my Icons for next year

Playing around with the idea of unit extra credit challenge cards that I would get printed for students (think postcard size). FRONT 🔁

@socialstudiestx It’s absolutely ridiculous to think that students can learn from teachers wearing jeans on Friday or after a teacher has paid to wear jeans but think students can’t learn from a teacher wearing jeans on a day they didn’t pay. Some admin are out of control with controlling.

I always taught my APs this- 1st question to a parent calling me or them about a teacher or class incident: “Have you spoken to the teacher about this?” If the answer was no, we’d say, “I’m sending an email to the teacher to have them call you. Please call us back if you have further concerns after talking w/ the teacher.” Only exceptions- accusations of abuse, or serious wrongdoing of the teacher.
Crappy Teacher@teachcrap

I hate parents that don’t talk to teachers first. They go straight to admin for things they could’ve emailed the teachers about. It shows that you, as a parent, don’t see us as the professionals we are. So how is your student supposed to see us as professionals?

When you visit an elementary school that has 45 minutes of social studies scheduled every day for the full year, and they aren’t pretending social studies happens during the ELA block.

Admin: We are making teacher mental health a priority. Teachers: Does that mean we can get a longer lunch. Admin: Shut up.
