Our elections are on the brink of losing their credibility, based on the fact that our current laws make it stunningly easy for noncitizens (roughly 30 million) to register and vote in U.S. elections. The cure for this ailment is the SAVE America Act. Tragically, that bill remains sidelined as the Senate tries to end the Democrats’ still-ongoing shutdown of major elements of DHS. But once DHS has been fully funded—which should happen very soon—the Senate must resume consideration of the SAVE America Act. Once it turns back to the SAVE America Act, the Senate should continue debating it until it passes.
