🚨 Fake Call Centre Busted by Kolkata Police 🚨 🔍 Brief Facts: Acting on intelligence available from various sources, Cyber Crime Wing of Kolkata Police detected suspicious activity linked to a cluster of mobile numbers. Detailed technical analysis and ground verification indicated the operation of a fraudulent call centre racket. Following careful surveillance and recce, a raid was conducted on 23.04.2026 at Sammilani Park area under Survey Park PS. 👥 Modus Operandi: The accused were running a fake call centre targeting unsuspecting citizens by: Posing as courier service executives Claiming issues with delivery addresses Sending malicious links via WhatsApp On clicking the link, victims’ devices were compromised Unauthorized transactions were then carried out, siphoning money into mule accounts and withdrawing it through ATMs/other channels 👮 Action Taken: 06 accused persons arrested on the spot 16 mobile phones (15 smartphones + 1 keypad phone) seized 08 debit cards and 03 laptops recovered Premises sealed for further investigation ⚠️ Stay Alert: Do not click on suspicious links received via SMS/WhatsApp Verify calls claiming to be from courier or service providers Never share banking or personal details with unknown callers Kolkata Police remains committed to safeguarding citizens against cyber fraud.
