Today, March 31st, is International Trans Day of Visibility. In an era of immense difficulty for the community, it can be hard to remember that Trans Day of Visibility is as much about positivity as it is about awareness and resistance. The annual awareness day, which takes place on 31 March every year, was founded by activist Rachel Crandall Crocker as an alternative to the comparatively bleak awareness holidays dedicated to trans people, such as Trans Day of Remembrance.

Today in 1960, First Nations people first granted the right to vote in Canada, without giving up their status. We've been here since Time Immemorial, and finally allowed to vote. It's also the same year the 8th Winter Olympic Games open in Squaw Valley, California. I love irony.

IOC fairness in women’s sports policy makes sports less fair for women: Thousands of female athletes around the world are going to have their access to high-level sport limited because of a witch hunt to solve a problem that doesn’t exist. xtramagazine.com/culture/olympi…

The IOC’s ban on transgender women is not based on science or evidence. It’s rooted in fear and ideology. Since 2004, over 65,000 athletes have competed at the Olympics—only 1 was a transgender woman—and she didn’t even place. This is not a real problem. It’s a manufactured one.

Out of THOUSANDS of athletes, there were three. There is no "attack" on women's sport. There is however, a system of hatred of women led by those who pretend to care about women's sport. This is infuriating and has deep roots in white supremacy and oppression.

She's “bossy.” He's “a boss.” She's “emotional.” He's “passionate.” She's “difficult.” He's “detail-oriented.” The dictionary of sexism has two editions.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. While we remember the group of anti-apartheid activists that marched in 1960 to their local police station to protest against the country's “pass law” in Sharpeville, South Africa, we renew our commitment to teach and build a world that ends all forms of racism. #IDERD #cdnpoli
