Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀 Yesterday, the 67th @DetroitStPat brought the city to life with a sea of green, lively floats, marching bands & Irish pride filling the streets. With 80-100k people coming together, it was a true celebration of community & tradition! PC: @visitdetroit

☘️ Cllr Mary Linehan-Foley, deputising for the Mayor of the County of Cork, attended the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organised by the United Irish Societies and supported by more than 35 local Irish organisations where she met with Mayor Mike Duggan of Detroit City and Mayor of Livonia Maureen Brisbane. 🇮🇪🇺🇸Irish immigrants, many from County Cork made their home in Corktown and the legacy they built lives on in the vibrant Irish American community we see here today. 🎥 Interviews with local TV stations Fox News 2 and Channel 7 also provided an opportunity to showcase all that Cork County has to offer.

Happy St.Patrick’s Day Detroit ☘️ The Parade route follows along Michigan Avenue through the area known as Corktown. Corktown received its name as the Irish were the largest ethnic group of newcomers to Detroit, most of them from County Cork. The Corktown neighborhood is Detroit’s oldest surviving neighborhood.
