I HAVE HAD the privilege of playing with and working with one of the best ‘Undercover Coaches’ in the business…! None other than #AdiBirrell 👌🙏 I say undercover as that is how Adi operates, no fanfare, no face in front of the TV, just professionally behind the scenes working his bum off to man manage his players and his people…and yes his cows 🐄 on his farm…😅 I first met Adi in 1987 at @MandelaUni formerly UPE, where he was my Cricket Captain. I immediately migrated to his warmth and caring approach - whilst knowing firmly that his standards, humility, wisdom, integrity and leadership was something I could learn from. Even in those days, Adi operated under the radar and just got things done - as he was a quiet and humble man from Makhanda (Grahamstown) where his legendary cricketing father ‘Harry Birrell’ worked out of @StAndrews1855 Over the years as coaches and friends our paths crossed on many occasion, both on and off the field - and at each and every interaction it remained just like it was back at University… His quiet and deep friendship remained whilst his cricketing expertise and man management skills oozed through every pore of his body… I am so proud and happy for ‘Adi B’ as I call him - he deserves everything that comes to him - even a few more cows 🐄 for his farm if that makes him happy! 😆 Well done to the @SunrisersEC and also to @TristanStubbs18 who deserves credit for his leadership and also his unbelievable knock in the final of the @SA20_League 👏 🏆 #SA20 #TristanStubbs @KavyaMaran @GraemeSmith49 @SA20_League #Gqeberha #PortElizabeth
