On Tuesday, Year 2 visited the @LaingArtGallery to explore sculpture. We had a fantastic time creating our own sculptures using our bodies and clay #opentonewexperiences 👨🎨 🖼️
Year 2 are making owls 🦉 from fallen, woodland material in woodland learning, which links to our book we are reading in English - The Owl Who Was Afraid Of the Dark #success
Reception have had a fantastic week learning all about Chinese New Year. The children ate a vegetable stir fry using chopsticks, made Chinese lanterns and did dragon dances around the school with their very own dragon’s head! 🥢🐲
Our theme this half term is Under the Sea and this week some of the activities we have been doing are: counting sea creatures, doing imaginary play with fish, playing a number fishing game and sorting fish in a variety of ways #communityspirit and #resilience.
Reception have been learning about rainforests this week and had the best time @SundMuseum! We went on a trail to save Lola the Lemur’s habitat from deforestation, walked to the top of the emergent layer of the rainforest and held some real rainforest objects in our workshop 🦧
The children in Nursery have really enjoyed their first lesson on the apparatus #opentonewthings. We also had a cold but lovely Winter walk and a great explore in our forest area, we spotted snow, puddles, mud, fungi, shoots and very bare trees #communityspirit.
Year 2 have been exploring symmetry this week in Maths and in our flashback Friday lesson today, we are using mirrors to identify more than one line of symmetry 🤔 🔷🟥♠️ #success

Reception completed their topic of Dinosaurs this week. They have absolutely loved learning about the features, diets and habitats of different dinosaurs. 🦖
Nursery are continuing to look at themselves. They have been practicing drawing and painting a person, remembering to do the body. They are trying so hard with their fine motor skills too, we are very impressed #Resilience#success.

For #MathsWeek , Reception have been comparing numbers using more and less. The children have been using objects and number lines to compare numbers. Some of the children even started to write their own number sentences!
