I find the subject of racial differences in intelligence to be completely uninteresting in and of itself. There are geniuses of all races. There are morons of all races. And everything in between. I don’t particularly care if there are proportionally more White, Asian, or Jewish geniuses than there are Black ones, as long as geniuses, whatever their race, have an equal opportunity to thrive and contribute to society. It doesn’t make life better or worse for me if the highest echelons of achievement in some discipline are predominantly one race or another. I care as much that CEOs and physics professors are disproportionately white as I do. that most NBA players are disproportionately black - which is to say not at all. I want @elonmusk running Tesla and SpaceX for the same reason I want LeBron in the NBA, or Thomas Sowell writing books: they are GOATs. And society is better when there is nothing impeding GOATs from GOATing. HOWEVER What justifies the study of racial differences in intelligence is the following: 1) There are racists (Democrats) who are obsessed with achieving statistical racial equality across a few fields they have decided they care about (academics, medicine, law, etc.) where Whites/Jews/Asians are “overrepresented.” 2) These racist Democrats are convinced that, despite group equality never being observed within any field of achievement in human history (read Sowell’s “Discrimination and Disparities”), every racial group must be proportionally represented in every endeavor - or at least, the ones where Whites now predominate, and that they’ve decided selectively to care about (nobody seems to care that there are more white deep-sea fishermen, or cross-country skiing gold medalists). 3) These racist Democrats have likewise convinced themselves that what truly matters is not that individuals are treated fairly according to their abilities, but that individual justice should be subordinated to the statistical parity of the group - which MUST be the fair outcome because it MUST be true that all disparities are the result of discrimination. In a world where people are insisting the only equitable outcome is a racially equal outcome, it is important not only to know if races actually are equal, but for it widely to be known. Fighting imagined discrimination by enacting real, affirmative discrimination causes real suffering in the service of statistical euphoria. And it should be emphasized that absent Democrats insisting that their favored racial patrons be hired to do jobs they are manifestly unqualified to do, there’s just no reason you need to care if Blacks and Whites as a racial category are equally qualified to do those jobs. Society needs AI satellites and self-driving electric cars, and mass drivers on the Moon, and these things won’t make life any better for everyone if a Black guy made them rather than Elon Musk. But that’s Marxism in a nutshell: people, quā individuals, are subordinated to the interests of the collective. Discriminate, imprison - hell, just fucking murder whoever you want - if it makes your spreadsheet look the way you want it to look. We can stop caring about racial differences in intelligence the moment Democrats stop caring about racial differences in achievement and just start treating everyone fairly. Until then, it matters. Because it puts the lie to the myth that all races are equally good at everything. I’d much prefer we just realized that “all men are created equal” does not mean “equally likely to succeed at all things,” but “legally entitled to equal treatment under the law.”
