So much of this "Trans men/women can only be depicted in X way or your transphobic" falls into the trap of bioessentialism and forcing trans people to fit into cìs gender stereotypes and standards. You can do that if you want, but you also don't have to at all. Either is fine.

Trans women can choose to have body hair or not, that's not my issue or the point here. The sticking point is "female ranges" because what does that mean if those "female ranges" can vary from "completely hairless" to "about as hairy as a random cìs man"?

"Body hair within female ranges" as a reason for why an trans woman character is/must be *completely* hairless gets me because back when I was forced to pretend to be a cìs woman, my arm/leg hair situation was basically equal to my dad and brother. No T, no hormone issues.

@Qwarz_Atarz I have my issues with the original one too but "Body hair within female range" is funny because before I started T, my arms and legs were just as hairy as my cìs brother's if I didn't shave. Genetics are weird and "male/female ranges" may not apply even to cìs people

@N1CAT33N Personally I wouldn't call something that is so specific/precarious the same male privilege that cìs men have. How many trans men pass enough to be able to claim that trans men collectively have male privilege anyway? This reminds me of "Bi people have straight privilege" tbh

@N1CAT33N Afaik the only way a trans man can access full (cìshet) male privilege is to be 100% stealth, hide any queerness and have no contact with any lgbt+/queer communities, and as soon as gets outed or someone clocks him, that all vanishes immediately.

I feel like the answer to "do trans men have male privilege?" is more nuanced than people think it is. I feel our male privilege is conditional & it can be taken away whether or not we're truly seen as men. we're never going to have the same systematic privilege as cıs men

@c_onfurence_0 I think this would go over better if this wasn't treating physical characteristics as inherently masculine or feminine. A trans man isn't feminine just because he has large hips, a trans woman isn't masculine just because she has body hair.

That said, my parents never knew I was on T in 2019 and they don't know now. The difference between then and now is that back then I was fully dependent on them and now I have my own place and income and (almost) no need to worry about what happens to me if they ever disown me.
